Till I meet God one-on-one, I will never believe in him- criminal says
Abraham Mensah, a prisoner at the Winneba Local Prison is stranded after his release because his father, an Elder of the Christ Apostolic Church International does not want to see him.
His father has told him he never wants to come near him until he assesses him and finds him worthy of acceptance.
Like the prodigal son in the Bible, Abraham confessed he became disobedient and went wayward leading him to indulge in criminal activities including stealing alongside abusing drugs.
Abraham ended up in prison after stealing his sister’s Ghc 2,000, which angered his father.
Crime Check Foundation (CCF) visited him in prison as part of its routine visits to inmates and while interacting with him he made the shocking revelation of his differing views about the existence of God.
“Till I meet God one-on-one, I will never believe in Him,” he said.
According to Abraham, he does not see any reason to believe in a Being who no one has ever met before. He says that one has to benefit from a Being who demands worshipping Him and therefore until he meets God and bargains with Him on the benefit he will get from Him, he (Abraham) will gladly yield to worshiping Him (God).
“I like to make profits from whatever I do that is why I like playing games. If I get to know the benefit I will get from worshipping God, I will follow Him,” he said.
As a man leading a congregation, Abraham’s father feels disappointed that his son has gone wayward and has asked the young man not to come close to him until after two years, the prisoner told crimecheckghana.org.
The church leader therefore left his son in prison to allow him to undergo reformation training after which he will reunite with him when he is fully reformed.
Crime Check Foundation paid a court fine of Ghc 4,800, which Abraham could not afford, which led to his imprisonment.
Abraham, though a free man now, is stranded and cannot go home because of the decision his father has taken on him.
