Three years with cancer; MBCF supports woman to get treatment
Meena Breast Cancer Foundation (MBCF) has assisted Comfort Agordortse, a breast cancer patient in Accra to pay for her hospital bills.
Madam Agordortse, 40, has been languishing in pain for close to three years from her swollen left breast eaten by cancer.
Until 2022, the widow did not realize the little pains she was experiencing was cancer triggered.
“I had never heard about the disease until I visited the hospital and I was told it was deadly.” She told crimecheckghana.org.
Medical scans and pre-care swallowed her meager savings pushing her to abandon the thoughts of seeking proper medical attention. Her condition kept worsening. She indicated she was only waiting for the untoward to happen but MBCF came to her rescue.
“I started doing labs and scans but due to financial difficulties, I stopped going to the hospital,” she said.
She became stunned when she was presented with a sum of One Thousand Ghana cedis (Ghc1000) from a Germany-based donor, Mr. Tomega. She expressed her gratitude to the donor for the kind gesture.
Her suffering could have been prevented if she had knowledge of the disease and early access to medical care.
Meena Breast Cancer Foundation was established a year ago to educate the public on the dangers of breast cancer and support patients to get proper medical care. MBCF aims to champion the fight against the disease throughout the year to help reduce breast cancer-related deaths.
