Three cases of breast cancer recorded as MBCF Screens GBC staff

Meena Breast Cancer Foundation (MBCF) will save the lives of three staff at the headquarters of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) after they were detected to have cancer lumps in their breasts.

The cases were recorded when MBCF stormed the premises of the state broadcaster in Accra with its advocacy and screening activities.

It would have been late for the victims to have known their breast cancer status if not for the intervention of MBCF.

An education on breast cancer preceded the screening, which attracted hundreds of staff of the broadcasting giant.

Senior nurses from the Tema General Hospital and the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital led the education and screening.

“You must not put pressure on your breasts when you put on your bra. When you close from work and you go home free the breast from bras,” Mrs Dorothy Denkyi, the lead MBCF medical officer admonished.

The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) is the second corporate institution MBCF has visited after its first visit to the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB), Lapaz Branch in Accra.

Established a year ago, Meena Breast Cancer Foundation (MBCF) is fighting the dreaded disease throughout the year.

It was birthed on the vision of Mrs Amina Oppong Kwarteng who succumbed to the disease in 2022. She was the wife of the Executive Director of MBCF and Crime Check Foundation (CCF), Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng.
