Police officer chops off suspect’s ear

A suspect in police custody, who is said to be the girlfriend of an alleged armed robber is seeking justice after a police officer clipped off one of her ears with a plier.

In her quest to confirm if her boyfriend was involved in an alleged robbery, 20-year-old Judith Yaakuma visited the Tema Community 8 Police Station where he had been detained.

Claiming she was a prime suspect, police officers also locked her up to assist in investigations.

However, the investigator handling the case, Clement Suputour, in an attempt to elicit information from the tight-lipped suspects, employed brutal measures.

Clement Suputour is a CID officer at the Community 8 Police Station

The police officer, according to Judith, clipped off her left ear with a plier causing her to bleed profusely.

“He held my hand behind my back and clasped my ear with a plier clipping part of it off. I cried throughout the night because of the excruciating pain,” she said.

“I was taken to a health facility at Community 2 for medical attention after I bled profusely’.

Confirming the incident to crimecheckghana.org, she said was denied a hearing when she was taken to court and has been remanded for a week as investigations continue.

“Suputour prevented me from speaking in court. Because I said I was 20 years old, they felt I was too young to speak,” she lamented.

Known for its fight for the rights of the vulnerable, the young lady phoned Crime Check Foundation (CCF) to intervene in the situation and seek justice for her.

When CCF tried to talk out issues with Mr. Suputour, the officer was hesitant and used vulgar language against the Executive Director of the Foundation, Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng.

Crime Check Foundation urges the Ghana Police Service to call Clement Suputour to order and serve Judith justice.
