Petty Offenders: CCF donates clothing to Winneba Prison inmates

Crime Check Foundation (CCF) has donated some clothing and shoes to the Winneba Local Prison for inmates.

Most prison inmates go home tattered after serving their sentences. CCF observed the indignity, hence its decision to make the donation.

The organization, led by its Executive Director, Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng, presented the brand new items to the Officer-In-Charge of the Winneba Local Prison, DDP Afari Mintah.

The items included pairs of boots, pairs of trousers, flip-flops, and pullovers.

Whiles making the presentation, Mr. Kwarteng said it was part of efforts by the organization to re-integrate ex-convicts into society.

“The items are from Holland and are brand new. These will be given to inmates to wear when they are going home.  It is to complement the Prisons service’s efforts in reforming and rehabilitating the inmates,” he said.

For his part, DDP Afari Mintah applauded CCF for its support in helping to achieve the mandate of the prison service.

According to him, the clothing will complement the help the prison service offers inmates when they are leaving the prisons.

“We are so happy about this donation. It will go a long way to augment the support we have been giving to outgoing inmates. We thank you for your continuous support,” he commended.

A Netherlands-based donor, Roy donated the items.

Crime Check Foundation pays the fines of petty offenders for their release. The Foundation makes sure they are properly re-integrated into society to prevent recidivism.
