My father says he won’t pay my hospital bills because I will die – Kidney failure patient

Kidney failure is robbing the future of a final-year student at the Somanya Vocational Training Institute.

Esther Mamle’s father has decided not to save her. He has refused to foot her daughter’s hospital bills because he believes she is never going to survive.

“My father said he is tired of paying my bills. He said I will definitely die so he won’t waste his money on me,” she told crimecheckghana.org.

According to the 23-year-old lady, she is now being taken care of by a benevolent man whose child is also receiving dialysis treatment at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

Esther’s two kidneys’ are affected and has been on treatment since 2021 without her father’s support.

The young lady says doctors have recommended transplants to save her but there is no hope to afford the cost involved.

In the meantime, she is undergoing dialysis and other treatments to sustain her but it has been difficult for her to pay for the medications.

“I undergo dialysis treatment two times a week and I pay Ghc 400 for each session of the treatment. The benevolent man has been helping me pay but it has been difficult for him these days,” Esther cried.

Esther visited the offices of Crime Check Foundation (CCF) for support. The Foundation gave her Two Thousand Ghana cedis for her preliminary treatment pending the transplant.

The gesture was done under the organization’s Health Check Series kind courtesy of the contribution of Netherlands based-donors, Vida Todima, and Nana Appiah.
