MBCF at Abeadze State College: 6 students with lumps identified
Six students of the Abeadze State College in the Central Region have been identified as being at risk of breast cancer.
Lumps suspected to be cancerous were found in the breasts of the students who are in their teens.
They were identified when Meena Breast Cancer Foundation (MBCF) went to the school to educate and screen the breasts of staff and students.
A total of two hundred and sixty of the school population participated.
The Headmistress of the school, Gifty Kinful-Mills thanked MBCF for the initiative.
As a survival, madam Kinful-Mills urged the students to practice regular self-breast examinations to detect early any signs of the deadly disease.
“I want to thank you for coming to educate us on the disease. God bless you so that you continue to do more for Mother Ghana and even beyond,” she said.
The victims have been referred to health facilities for further investigations into the suspected cases to inform of the next line of action to secure their lives.
The Abeadze State College adds to 14 the list of educational institutions the Foundation has visited to implement its initiative.
Meena Breast Cancer Foundation has engaged more than 10,000 women since its formation in 2022.
It was birthed on the vision of Amina Oppong Kwarteng, the late wife of the Executive Director of MBCF, Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng.
