Market women screened for breast cancer at Tema; three referred

Meena Breast Cancer Foundation (MBCF) has screened market women at Tema in the Greater Accra Region for breast cancer.

Out of the dozen women screened, three suspected cases were recorded.

The victims were given immediate referral to seek further diagnosis.

This comes barely a week after some physically challenged persons in Tema were screened.

MBCF with a team of nurses from Ghana’s leading hospitals has been out and about with screening and education exercises throughout the country to complement government’s efforts in the fight against breast cancer.

So far ten thousand beneficiaries have been engaged since the inception of the Foundation’s initiative to fight the disease year-round.

The group of traders is the latest to benefit from Meena Breast Cancer Foundation’s enterprise.

Schools, communities, religious and corporate organizations have been beneficiaries of the program to end breast cancer deaths.

Potsin T.I AMASS and St. Mary’s Senior School in Accra are examples of educational institutions that have received education on breast cancer.

Staff of the Lapaz branch of the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) enjoyed the screening organized for them at their office premises.

MBCF was established a year ago to educate the public on the dangers of breast cancer and support patients to get proper medical care. The Foundation aims to champion the fight against the disease throughout the year to help reduce breast cancer-related deaths.
