How Christian Atsu donated his first salary at FC Porto to a church in Ghana-Manager reveals

The local manager of deceased Black Stars player, Christian Atsu has revealed that the winger donated Eight Hundred Euros to a church in Ghana.

The donation according to the manager, Abdul Hayye Yartey was the first salary he received when was at FC Porto.

Atsu has been eulogized for his benevolence while he was alive.

The 31-year-old player, unfortunately, died under rubble after an earthquake hit Turkey and Syria.

Atsu joined the Portuguese giants, FC Porto in 2009 after being scouted from Cheetah FC.

“When Christian went to Porto and succeeded in the trials, Porto went on to pay him 800 euros a month,”

“So I received the money through Western Union from Christian and I was so happy thinking he had sent me money. His call followed and he said the 800 euros he had sent was equivalent to what he ordered me to give to the church,” Yartey disclosed.

The Cheetah FC boss described Atsu as a devout Christian who did not hesitate to convince his colleagues to join him at church.

Atsu was trapped under the wreckage of the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that took the lives of more than 46, 000 people.

He was found lifeless on the twelfth day after the incident on Monday, February 6, 2023.

His mortal remains arrived in Ghana on Sunday, February 19, 2023.

It was received by the family and a government delegation led by Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia in a brief ceremony.

Tributes since the announcement of his death have been pouring in from all walks of life in solidarity with his family.

March 4 2023 has been set for his one-week observation whiles date for his burial is been decided by the family and government.
