High-powered police delegation visits lady who suffered maimed ear by an officer

The Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has taken a keen interest in the case of Judith Yaakuma, whose ear a police officer mutilated while in custody.

After Crime Check Foundation’s intervention and weeks of fighting for justice for the victim, a high-profile delegation of police officers have visited the victim on the instructions of the IGP.

CCF started a media protest against the actions of the defiant police officer, Clement Suputour which it deemed unprofessional and infringed on the rights of the victim.

The top hierarchy police delegation assured the family of Judith the Service would expedite actions to bring Suputour to book as they are currently at the final leg of investigations into the matter.

“They assured us that they would not put the issue to bed and that they will ensure that Suputour is sanctioned,” the victim’s mother told crimecheckghana.org.

According to the woman, a Police Commander had called her to inform her of the intention of the top officers to visit her daughter to see her welfare.

“When I heard of the IGP’s visit, I doubted until calls came through from Commanders in the Tema region. Finally, the police entourage is here and we are on our way home to see my daughter,” she said.

She was full of praise for CCF which had sought the services of a lawyer for the victim to represent her in court.

“I thank Crime Check Foundation for the good work done. I am excited that finally, I am getting justice for my daughter,” she said.

The Police Service faces a suit of Ghc 2.5 million over the issue.
