Ghanaian mission to Saudi snubs lady dying in detention

A Ghanaian-Saudi migrant has been left to battle for her life in detention as Ghana Missions snub her.

Mary Quaye has been kept in an unknown place in the Arabian country.

Mary traveled to Saudi Arabia to work on a contract but fell sick and could not complete the deal.

Her Ghanaian-based mother, Angela Klottey said her daughter has been bleeding since she was detained.

Mrs. Klottey told crimecheckghana.org that her daughter wanted to come back home for treatment but was purportedly seized at the airport by her employers.

Her detention, she claims is because, she owes her employers who had paid for her services, which she has not yet executed.

“I had informed Mary about the ill health of her two children so that she could send money to get healthcare for them. She also told me she was sick and had been bleeding,” she said.

According to Mrs. Klottey, her dying daughter has been phoning the Ghana Missions in the Gulf country but has not had any response.

The disturbed mother said Mary was convinced by her friends to travel to the Arab nation for greener pastures.

A few months into her stay in the Kingdom, she fell ill and has not been able to support the family back home.

Mrs. Klottey says they are struggling financially and she is pleading with government to help her daughter who is her only hope to come back home.

“My husband is also sick and there is no money to get him medical care. We cannot even buy food. I am appealing to government to go to the aid of my daughter,” she appealed.

Crime Check Foundation (CCF) has been cautioning against patronizing contract jobs abroad, especially in the Arab region.
