CCF saves needy students from the streets through its Educational Support Project
21-year-old Mariama Otewa Amoah shed tears of joy as she received support from Crime Check Foundation to pay her admission fee.
Miss Amoah nearly missed her third opportunity to further her education after struggling to raise Two Thousand Five Hundred and Sixty-Nine Ghana cedis to enter the Abetifi Presbyterian Teacher Training College.
With One Thousand Ghana cedis that she has been able to raise, she said seeking for support to get the full amount has been a challenge because of her poor family background. “My father is bedridden so life has been difficult for me. He is lumberjack and also burns charcoal so he wasn’t earning enough,” she told crimecheckghana.
Crime Check Foundation, CCF through the contribution of one of its Hamburg based donors, Sister Mercy, gave Miss Amoah One Thousand Eight Hundred Ghana cedis to be able to pay her admission fees.
Miss Amoah thanked CCF and its donor for the support. “God bless you. If it had not been your support I wouldn’t have been thinking of going to school now,” she said.
Another Beneficiary
Similarly, 22-year-old Kelvin Bafani from Tamale also received support to further his education.
Mr Bafani said because he struggles to pay his admission fees, he has been home for several years though he had excelled in his Senior High School final exams and had gained admission to the University of Development Studies to pursue a two-year Diploma in Basic Education.
He said he had to take up construction labouring jobs to be able to cater for himself and his family so saving the little money he earned was a challenge. “Sometimes I have to stop going to school for a period of time to do by-day construction work. What I earned from the job was what I used to cater for myself in school. After I finished school in 2016, I decided to come to Accra to do the same job to be able to further my studies,” he told crimecheckghana.
Mr Bafani’s eyes were filled with tears as he received Two Thousand Seven Hundred Ghana cedis from CCF to pay his fees. The Foundation supported him further with food, clothes and hostel accommodation.
