CCF gives Awutu Camp Prison a facelift

Crime Check Foundation (CCF) has refurbished Awutu Camp Prison in the Central Region.

CCF donated eighteen buckets of emulsion paints, five buckets of oil paints, and some four gallons of paint thinners at the cost of Seven Thousand Ghana cedis to give the facility a face-lift.

It is part of its support to improve prison conditions.

The prison has transformed after giving its walls some painting.

Presenting the paints to the management of the Awutu Camp Prison, the Executive Director of Crime Check Foundation, Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng, indicated that the refurbishment was aimed at creating a conducive environment that would enable the effective reformation and rehabilitation of prisoners.

“We seek to complement the Prisons Service’s efforts to achieve its mandate of reforming prisoners. We want to help paint the Awutu Camp Prison so that the inmates would feel at home,” he spoke to crimecheckghana.org.

The immediate past, Officer-In-Charge of the Awutu Camp Prison, William Anaman, under whose eight-year leadership the Open Prison has seen massive development, was full of gratitude for the partnership between CCF and the prison.

Mr. Anaman praised the Foundation for supporting his administration to improve the conditions of the inmates.

“I have been able to do all these with the help of officers and inmates to make life in the prison comfortable. Crime Check Foundation has been part of our success since I came here in 2016. We have been able to put up new structures that will make the officers and inmates comfortable and we have done this without support from government nor the prisons service,” he said.

Crime Check Foundation has played a pivotal role in the running of prisons across Ghana with its donations and advocacy for the improvement of prison conditions.
