CCF commends outgoing OIC of Awutu Camp prison for remarkable leadership
Crime Check Foundation (CCF) has commended the outgoing Officer-In-Charge of the Awutu Camp Prison, ADP Williams Thomas Anaman for his exceptional leadership in promoting the welfare of prison inmates during his tenure.
The compliment was captured on a plaque that was presented to ADP Anaman during his pull-out ceremony held at the Awutu Camp Prison in the Central Region.
It was to commend him for his enormous contribution to the reformation and rehabilitation of prisoners at the facility.
“We at Crime Check Foundation acknowledge your efforts in fighting crime through reformation. Your belief in prisoners as useful people in society fuelled your commitment to promoting their well-being. You have demonstrated outstanding leadership and surmounted all challenges to position Awutu Camp Prison as a model institution to the admiration of all,” the plague read.
In addition to the citation was a cheque for Five Thousand Ghana cedis from the Foundation to ADP Anaman for his contribution to enhancing the conditions of inmates.
“Because of your vision for a reduction in crime and improvement in prison conditions, you opened your doors to us to start our ‘Time With Prison Series’. Your decision has produced remarkable results,” another portion of the citation read.
CCF worked closely with ADP Anaman in helping to improve the well-being of inmates at the Awutu Camp Prison.
The relationship between the Foundation and the open camp prison, started eight years ago when ADP William Anaman opened it doors to CCF to conduct its first-ever prison interview with inmates in 2015.
That was how Time With The Prisoner series’ was birthed.
The Series has since been thriving as a cautionary programme to help in crime reduction.
These inmates have successfully been re-integrated into society.
ADP Anaman was transferred to the Awutu Camp Prison as Office-In-Charge of the facility in 2015 after serving in various capacities at other prisons.
Under his eight-year leadership at Awutu Camp, the Prison facility has seen many successes chalked as developmental projects sprung up to cater for the welfare of both prison inmates and officers.
“You have distinguished yourself by contributing immensely to the mandate of the Ghana Prisons Service. With people like you, the Prisons Service could confidently boast of a bright future,” other portions of the citation said.
This is evident in the improved meal provided for the prisoners and the expansion of workshops to ease the training of inmates in various skills.
“Through your feat, you have left an indelible imprint in the reformation and rehabilitation agenda of the Ghana Prisons Service,” the citation concluded.
Crime Check Foundation wished ADP Anaman well in his future endeavors.
