Breast Cancer: MBCF educates, screens staff of NACOC

Meena Breast Cancer Foundation (MBCF) has taken its breast cancer screening and education to the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC).

Among nineteen staff of the Commission (NACOC) screened who underwent the exercise one case was recorded.

MBCF considered their busy schedules and went to the doorsteps of NACOC to organize the event.

The screening exercise took place after an interactive session during a breast cancer education led by nurses and officials from the MBCF.

Key issues that came up during the education session were the importance of breast-feeding and breast sucking.

Meena Breast Cancer Foundation nurses meticulously demystified the myth around breast-feeding and breast sucking.

The lead nurse, Dorothy Denkyi, a Midwife at the Tema General Hospital touched on the need to take good care of the breast.

“You have to keep yourself clean. Constantly wash your bra to prevent infecting your breasts,” she advised.

The participants were taken through a self-breast examination

The victim identified during the screening will be supported to undergo further medical investigations.

The Foundation has been going to the doorsteps of corporate organizations with its breast cancer screening and sensitization exercises.

Meena Breast Cancer Foundation recently held its maiden press conference urging government to make breast cancer treatment free.

Meena Breast Cancer Foundation (MBCF) has been on the ground each day sensitizing, screening, and searching for breast cancer victims to support their treatment.

The year-old Non-Governmental Organization was established on the vision of the late Amina Oppong Kwarteng, the late wife of Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng who sadly succumbed to the disease in 2022.

It is currently constructing a Breast Cancer Centre at Potsin in the Central Region.
