Black queens player, Asantewaa donates to release prisoners
CCFBlack Queens player, Grace Asantewaa, has donated an undisclosed amount of money to help release prison inmates
Asantewaa made a contribution to Crime Check Foundation (CCF) when she visited its offices in Accra on Friday.
The Ghana women’s national team midfielder who also plays for Liga MX Femenil Mexican club FC Juarez told crimecheckghana.org that she was touched by the work of CCF in Ghana’s prisons persuading her to walk the path of late Black Stars winger, Christian Atsu.
“I follow what you do in the prisons and I was touched. So I told my mother that when I return to Ghana I would love to contribute to the releases you do in the prisons,” she said.
The Executive Director of Crime Check Foundation (CCF), Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng received the donation on behalf of the organization with full appreciation and well wishes on the career of Asantewaa for her bigheartedness.
“God bless you for coming to the aid of people who many regard as outcasts in society. May God lift your career to the highest level,” he foretold.
Mr. Kwarteng, the Ambassador Extraordinaire of Ghana’s prisons, implored other players to take a cue from Christian Atsu who made significant contributions to help prisoners and the underprivileged.
Grace Asantewaaa’s gesture is seen as continuing the legacy the late Atsu left behind.
Christian Atsu was the largest contributor to Crime Check Foundation’s ‘Ex-Convicts Re-integration project’, which empowered prisoners to reintegrate into society by establishing businesses for them.
While alive, he supported the release of hundreds of prison inmates nationwide.
