Acid victim, Memuna talks about life and death during surgery
CCFAcid victim Malik Memuna who suffered an attack in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) talks about a fourth surgery that could have possibly ended her life.
Speaking to crimecheckghana.org, Memuna said according to a specialist medical doctor, her survival was fifty percent.
“I went into a coma for two days,” she said.
The fourth surgery was to revamp her flattened nose when she was attacked.
“My nose was completely flat and I had breathing difficulties. The doctor told me that I could possibly lose my life or the surgery will fail and my condition would worsen,
Despite the risks, Memuna decided to undergo the surgery because of her strong faith that God would not let her down.
“The doctor cut part of the skin on my hand and pulled some veins to treat my nose. It had not been easy. I had to fast for some days prior to the surgery,” she recounted her painful experience.
Memuna has now had her faith further bolstered after the surgery because many patients couldn’t survive similar treatments.
“I used to pray ones in a day but now I attend all the five prayers within the day. I also encourage others to have their faith deepened, she said.
Memuna has three more surgeries to undergo to get her face fully restored.
She pleaded with the general public for support to successfully complete the remaining surgeries.
Memuna Malik was showered with acid by a friend who mistook her for a contender.
She returned to Ghana with a veil to hide her scary look as she was subjected to mockery.
Memuna was partially blind with parts of her face and body deformed.
