Breast cancer: 3 students of Bright SHS with suspected cancerous lumps

Three students of Bright Senior High School in Kunkurantumi in the Eastern Region have been identified with suspected cancerous lumps in their breasts.

Meena Breast Cancer Foundation (MBCF)’s year-round initiative to fight the disease took its sensitization and breast screening exercise to the school where the affected students were identified.

There were about 157 students who underwent the screening exercise.

The Assistant Headteacher of Bright Senior High School in the Eastern Region, Rexford Darko expressed excitement over the visit MBCF to sensitize and screen the breasts of its students.

He was incredibly shocked to learn about the work of the MBCF in fighting breast cancer.

Mr. Darko thanked the Foundation after a breast screening exercise that led to the detection of lumps suspected to be cancerous in the breasts of three of its female students.

In a video, the head teacher said, “We were delighted to receive the team from the Foundation after they wrote to us that they wanted to visit us. They have really educated our students and we are much grateful for that.”

He used the opportunity to advise the public especially women who are easily susceptible to the disease to seek immediate medical action when they find changes in their breasts.

“When you feel that something is not making you comfortable it is always advisable to go for a medical check-up because early detection calls for early treatment and early treatment saves lives. We thank Meena Foundation for the great work,” he acknowledged.

The Meena Breast Cancer Foundation was earlier in the Eastern Region on a three-day working tour to sensitize and screen staff and students of the Ofori Opanin, Wielhemina Bishop Zion Methodist, and the Christian Heritage Senior High Schools.
