CCF gets result: Police Service investigates officer who cut suspect’s ear

The Ghana Police Service has initiated investigations into the conduct of Clement Suputour, a CID officer who cut a suspect’s ear during interrogations.

The embattled officer, stationed at the Tema Community 8 Police stationed used brutal measures in a bid to instill fear into the suspect to elicit information.

Mr. Suputour used a plier to clip off Judith Yaakuma’s ear.

“He held my hand behind my back and clasped my ear with a plier clipping a part of it off. I cried throughout the night in pain,” the 20-year-old lady told crimecheckghana.org

The incident reached the desks of Crime Check Foundation (CCF). CCF triggered conversations to seek justice for the victim attracting the attention of the Police administration to the issue.

CID Clement Suputour has been relieved of the case to allow investigations into the brutal and unprofessional conduct of the officer.

Through the instrumentality of the Executive Officer of Crime Check Foundation, Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng, got the services of a pro bono lawyer, Andrew Khartey to represent Judith in her second appearance at the Ashaiman Circuit Court.

Judith was in court without a lawyer on her first appearance and was remanded for further investigations.

However, the presiding judge, granted her bail to enable her to seek medical care when the lawyer informed the court about the act of the officer.

Judith Yaakuma was arrested when he went to visit her boyfriend who was in custody at the Tema Community 8 Police Station for his alleged involvement in a robbery.

She was held as a prime suspect and had her ear cut when undergoing interrogations.
