Mother of triplets who went into seven months coma after birth dies
A woman who went into a seven-month coma after giving birth to a triplets has finally succumbed to death.
Precious Agyekum suffered severe paralysis after delivery under a Caesarian Session at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
The deceased eventually lost consciousness post-delivery.
Her condition left a huge financial burden on her husband, Douglas Agyekum who said he sold his properties including his house to enable her to restore her wife’s condition.
“I have sold my three-bedroom house at Kasoa to get her on her feet. Even after that I still owe bills at the hospital,” he said.
Until her death, Precious was fed through one of the many tubes that served her system with medications to sustain her life.
Narrating events leading to his wife’s condition, Douglas said his vigorous wife walked by herself for anti-natal.
According to the widower, after some medical examinations at the hospital, doctors noticed she had some complications and admitted her the same day.
Fast forward, conventional delivery, according to the medics was going to put her life at risk hence, the need for her to undergo a Caesarian Session.
Douglas said his wife was sent to the emergency ward but the doctors came out with questionable facial expressions.
Though she delivered safely, she was rendered immobile.
The troubled husband said his wife has been stuck at the hospital for six months without attention from doctors.
He said the doctors told him they could not do anything about her condition and ‘therefore I have to come for her and take care of her at home’.
Sadly, it is his wife’s lifeless body Douglas comes home with.
