Officer-In-Charge of Awutu Camp Prison, ADP Anaman pulled out of active service after 34years

After serving the Ghana Prisons Service for 34 years, the Officer-In-Charge at the Awutu Camp Prison, DDP Williams Thomas Anaman has been pulled-out of office as he retires.

Mr. Anaman, an Agriculture extension expert rose through the ranks to become the OIC.

His three decades of servitude has been described many as been marked by illustriousness and exemplary.

“Throughout his illustrious career, ADP Anaman has been a shinning example of excellence and a source of inspiration for his colleagues and surboniates,” his tribute read.

The 59-year-old Prisons Officer was enlisted into the service in 1989 where he underwent training in Prison Management and Inmate handling at the Prison Officers Training School.

He was posted to the Koforidua Local Prison in the Eastern Region as his first station in 1990.

Other Prisons he served at were the Nsawam Medium Security Prison, Ankaful Main Camp Prison, Akuse Local Prison and the James Camp Prison.

At the various prisons he was in charge of farms, he was a Court Warrant Officer, Deputy Block Master for the Condemned Block, Block Master for the Condemned Block Master and the Agric-In-Charge.

Under his leadership, Awutu Camp Prison saw significant infrastructural development with the construction of an Administration block, Reception and Inmates Welfare Complaints Block.

Various workshops needed for training such as tailoring shop, bakery, beads making shop and a kente weaving shops.

Mr. Anaman’s dedicated service did not go unrecognized as he has received sevral accolades including the June 4^th Medal, the Medal for Long Service and Good Conduct and the Ghana at 50 medal.

The pull-out event was organized as he bowed out of offices at the Awutu Camp Prison.
