CCF goes to the aid of pregnant ‘pure water’ hawker

A 35-year-old ‘pure water’ vendor, Patience Lamptey, though heavily pregnant does not have any other option than to continue hawking.

She said she sells twenty to thirty bags of the water a day to be able to support the home because of financial difficulties.

Madam Lamptey said though she has a husband, she cannot rely solely on the support from her spouse, as it will not suffice for their needs.

Speaking with crimecheckghana.org, she said she has to toil for the whole day despite her situation but makes little profit. She said she does not have any other means of support and appealed for support from the general public to give her relieve.

“I cannot sit at home idle because I do not want a situation where my children would go hungry. Life has been difficult for me but I think it is part of life so I had to be encouraging myself to hope for the better someday,” she said.

Crime Check Foundation (CCF) supported her with Four Hundred Ghana cedis from two of its donors, US based California Classic Ladies and Assemblies of God Women’s Fellowship to boost her business.

Madam Lamptey was grateful for the support. “I thank you for coming to my aid. I did not know I would get this surprise. God bless CCF and the donors,” she prayed.

The Executive Director of CCF, Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng said the move to support traders at the Kasoa Market was to help those from the villages to sell in the city under distress.

“Many of these women come to the city to sell their wares which is not even up to Fifty Ghana cedis. The difficulties they go through is unbearable so we have decided to extend a helping hand to them,” he said.
