Needy 70 yr old blind widow begs for support

70-year-old blind widow, Yaa Senya who resides in Sekyere in the Kumawu District of the Ashanti Region does not have life easy. Her only daughter who would have worked to cater for her, has to be with her throughout to clean her up.

Her struggles

The mother of three told crimecheckghana that a spot sprouted on her eye which caused her blindness. She said her condition coupled with financial difficulties has made life unbearable for her.

“Life has been difficult for me because I don’t have anybody to take care of me. My husband and I only had three children. One of my children is in Accra but I hear he is also sick so I live with my daughter. Almost two years ago, a spot developed on my eyes. Since then, I have been struggling to see. I am sick and I can’t do anything by myself. I wish I am dead.” She said.

Speaking to her daughter, she said she is unemployed because there is no job in the village. She said because of that she does not have money to buy what is needed to see to her mother’s welfare, She said when she does not get food from the farm, they starve. “Life has been difficult so I have been struggling to get her food. There is no job so I have been going to a farm nearby. If I get foodstuffs from the farm, I bring it home and prepare it for her.” She said.

CCF’s intervention

Crime Check Foundation, CCF gave the blind widow Two Hundred Ghana cedis to enable her cater for herself.

The poor widow was full of appreciation for the support. “God bless you and make you great. May you never lack and may you prosper in your endeavours.” She said.
