CCF supports 60yr old blind widow rejected by her children
60-year-old blind widow, Akua Attah regrets being a mother as her children who should have been a blessing to her have now become hostile towards her.
She says they have abandoned her to her fate despite her frail condition.
“After staying with my oldest child for three years, he drove me away claiming I have become a burden on him. He said I should come to the village so that his siblings will also take care of me. I don’t know why he would treat me like this,” she cried.
She told crimecheckghana that she has been living alone for a year now and since she was driven away, none of her seven children has visited her. Madam Akua Attah said life has been bitter for her as she depends on the benevolence of neighbours, especially Ama Nancy (her neighbour) who opted to see to her welfare.
According to miss Nancy, “life has been difficult for her so I visit her regularly to take care of her. With her walking stick, I saw her crying and struggling to make her way to her room so I decided to find out what the problem was. She told me what her older child had done to her,” she narrated.
