12-yr-old Ghanaian who wants to become world’s best actor
12-year-old Anas Issah Edusei has one of the biggest ambitions – to become one of the best actors in the world.
Having read about One hundred and sixteen books, the young man said he is motivated to inspire others through acting and not just to make money.
“At the age of 10 I had read fifty books and now I have read over one hundred and sixteen box. I want to read up to five hundred storybooks. Through reading I became very ambitious and wanted to become a soldier but I have changed my mind because I don’t want to die in pain but of old age. I think acting will get me there because when my favourite actor is on set I see myself as him. It seems I have a spiritual connection with acting.” He said.
With his knowledge in movies, Edusei said there is the need for improvement in the African movie industry particularly Ghana as he compared it to that of the West. He said one of his best Ghanaian actors is Kojo Nkansah popularly known as Lilwin who he thinks makes acting lively through humour6. “One problem with African movies is that, from the start of the movie through to the end, every scene could be predicted unlike Western movies. I like Lilwin because he adds exaggeration to his acting which creates suspense making the movie entertaining.” He indicated.
The optimistic young man said he won’t end his career with just being an actor but will advance to become a famous movie director and producer. He encouraged other children who have big ambitions to be hopeful and not to be intimidated to make them drop their ideas.
“I want to tell other children who aim to be actors and actresses not to give up on their dreams. Don’t listen to people who will bring your spirit down but rather raise your hopes up.”
Edusei’s ambition is a call for parents not to ignore the ideas of their children that could lead to crushing their future.
