Update: By-day worker thrown in jail receives help

Akua Afriyie, a single mother of four who was thrown in jail without  fair hearing has received help from Crimecheckfoundation, (CCF) (crimecheckghana).

Crimecheckghana few weeks back reported of a by- day worker who was thrown in jail by her pay master when she insisted on getting her 6-months salary arrears paid and in the process broke a windscreen.

The Foundation through its Exconvict Reintegration Project gave Akua Afriyie GH₵1000 as a startup capital to sustain her and her four children.

Narrating her ordeal in an interview with crimecheckghana, Akua Afriyie said ‘I live with my old sick mother and it has not been easy sharing a room with her and my kids.

The Foundation through the help of its donors responded to Akua’s plead and gave her a mobile phone and an amount of GHC2500 as money to cover her accommodation and other expenses while waiting for her business to yield some profits.

Presenting the money to her, the Executive Director of CCF, Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng admonished Akua to be diligent and tactful in her business to sustain it.

Akua Afriyie on her part assured the foundation and its donors of her unflinching gratitude and loyalty.

“I have not in my entire life held money more than GHC200  and never have I owned a mobile phone, I am very grateful to the foundation and its donors, now my family and I can  live life like many others“ she said

The Crimecheckfoundation is grateful to the general public for assisting Akua Afriyie and setting her up in business.
